alasin.jpg

Ingredients:

  • Rice Flour Four Cups
  • Alasandalu Or Bobbarlu or Black Eyed Peas
  • Salt  and any vegetable oil
  • water 4 cups

Procedure:

Put the alasandalu in 4 cups of water with a pinch of salt and pressure cook for 2 whistles.  Do not drain the water from the pressure cooker as we are going to use it while making the mix.  Take the rice flour in wide mouthed vessel and add salt. Mush a handful of the cooked peas in to the batter.   Add the drained water to the mixture along with the remaining alasandalu  and make the batter(add some hot water if needed).  The batter should not be too goey or too hard. It should be of medium consistency. Make vadas on a wet plastic sheet using the batter.  Heat the oil in a pan and drop the vadas in to the pan gently from the side.  Fry the vadas till light brown by turning them over.  Serve the hot vadas with Avakaya(Mango) pickle and venna(sour cream).
